On coming to Norway I was quickly saw what a beautiful country it is and how everyone seems to have an attractive house. Everyone here is very comfortable and doesn't seem to have any material need. I feel that this blinds people to their spiritual needs. There is a lot of indifference, or at least a lack of understanding of the reality that God is real and we ALL need Him.
While praying in one church (in Bamble dating back to 1150) I felt that there was a problem with tradition. People were happy with the way the church is, without seeking God's true purpose. This creates a static, rather than dynamic, faith. The wall in this church had been painted bright white, reflecting the glory and holiness of God. But I felt that this paint was like a symbolic cover over the sin (see Ezekiel 13:10-12). Sin that goes back for centuries. The church needs to seek God's holiness through repentance and humbling itself so that the glory of God may shine.
Having spent time with some pastors and church members from this area in southern Norway, I was impacted by the hunger that they all have to see a change, to see God move in power. I believe God is responding to this hunger! Revival is something that we have to fight for.
